There is something grounding about holding a ceramic vessel. It fosters a personal connection between artist and consumer that is truly unique to the medium. I am drawn to clay like nothing else and draw inspiration from every step of the process, from mixing the clay to the final firing. I enjoy the connection between the natural world and the earthiness and rich history of the ceramic tradition.
My work has taken me in countless directions, though at the moment I am endeavoring to center myself and my art by looking towards my midwestern roots, taking inspiration from prairies, rivers, and native plants. By taking direct inspiration from places I've lived and experiences I've had, I use my artwork to speak about the ideas of home and belonging and my search for those things in my own life.
